In a cozy forest lived a little fox named Foxy Red. She loved to play tricks—she'd take an apple from Hedgehog or tell Squirrel it was raining so she could hide her nuts.
One morning, Red found a tiny sack beside a big oak tree. Inside were ten round nuts!
"Wow!" said Red. "Now I can eat nuts all day!"
She was about to run home when she heard: "Where is my little sack? Where?"
A gray mouse named Gray peeped out from a bush. She was searching in the grass and crying.
"I was collecting nuts for my little babies," sniffed Gray. "Now I've lost them all!"
Red hid the sack behind her back.
"I haven't seen a thing," she said, and walked away.
At home, Red opened the sack. She took one nut. Sniffed it. She wanted to eat it, but she remembered how Gray had cried.
"Oh," sighed Red. "But these nuts are mine!"
She took a second nut. And a third. But she didn't feel like eating. She felt sad.
Red stared at the sack and thought about the little baby mice waiting for their mommy.
"Alright, fine!" she said at last.
She grabbed the sack and ran to find Gray.
Gray was sitting under a bush, wiping her tears with a tiny paw.
"Gray!" called Red. "Is this your sack? I found it in the grass!"
Gray jumped up.
"It is! It is my sack! Thank you, Red!"
She was so happy that she gave Red a big hug.
"Come to my house," said Gray. "My babies will be so glad to meet you!"
They went together. The tiny mice squeaked and pitter-pattered with joy. Mama Gray shared honey and berries with Red.
Red ate and smiled. Her heart felt warm and cozy, like never before.
When night fell, Red walked home under the stars, humming a happy tune.
At home, she curled up in her soft bed and closed her eyes. She dreamed of picking flowers with Gray in a sunny meadow, while the little mice played nearby.
Red smiled in her sleep and began to snore softly.
