Once upon a time, in a cozy meadow, there lived a little firefly named Twinkle. He had delicate wings and tiny, soft feet. But Twinkle worried most about his light. It wasn't bright and flashy like the other fireflies'. It glowed softly and gently, like a tiny star in the sky.
"Why is my light so dim?" Twinkle sighed. "All the other fireflies shine so brightly. I'm too shy to glow!"
One night, his friends the fireflies flew off to dance. They twirled in the air, leaving golden trails behind. Twinkle sat on a leaf and watched. He wanted to join them, but he was afraid his light wouldn't be good enough.
Suddenly, it got very, very dark. Clouds covered the moon. The fireflies scattered, and all their lights disappeared. Then Twinkle heard a soft cry.
"Who's there?" asked Twinkle.
"It's us, the little ladybugs!" they sobbed. "We're lost and can't find our way home. It's so dark!"
Twinkle looked at his own light. It glowed quietly but warmly.
"I can help!" said Twinkle. "My light isn't very bright, but I'll try."
So he flew ahead. His little light barely lit the path. But the ladybugs followed, because even a small light is better than none.
"This way!" called Twinkle.
The path grew narrow. Twinkle glowed a little brighter, and his light became a tiny bit stronger. The ladybugs could see every pebble and blade of grass.
"We're almost home!" the ladybugs cheered.
At last, they saw their house under a big mushroom. Their mama was waiting at the door.
"Thank you, Twinkle!" cried the ladybugs. "Without you, we'd never have found our way!"
Twinkle smiled. He looked at his light. Now it shone brightly and warmly. Because Twinkle understood: his light was special. It didn't blind, but it led the way.
That night, the fireflies danced again. And Twinkle danced with them. His light glowed gently but confidently. And the little ladybugs sat on a leaf, watching the little star flying in the sky.
