Little Ladybird and the Lost Spots

Once upon a time, there was a little ladybird named Sunny. She had bright red wings and lots and lots of black spots.

But one morning, Sunny woke up—and her spots were gone! She looked and looked, but they were nowhere to be found.

"Oh dear!" cried Sunny. "Where are my spots? What will my friends say?"

So Sunny set off to find her spots.

First she met a cat named Purry.

"Purry, have you seen my spots?"

"No," said Purry. "But you look lovely even without them."

Sunny shook her head and went on.

Then she met a rabbit named Hoppy.

"Hoppy, have you seen my spots?"

"No," said Hoppy. "But I love playing with you because you are kind. Want to play?"

Sunny sighed. "I can't, I need my spots."

She walked on. Then she met a bear named Stompy.

"Bear, have you seen my spots?"

"No," rumbled Stompy. "But we all love you, with spots or without. Want some honey?"

Sunny stopped and thought. "You love me?" she asked.

"Yes!" cheered all her friends. "You are a good little ladybird! You always help others!"

And then Sunny smiled. She felt warm inside.

"I understand," she whispered. "I am me. And without spots, I am still me!"

Suddenly, Sunny felt a tickle on her wings. She looked—and her spots were coming back! One, two, three… All her spots were there!

"Hooray!" shouted her friends.

And Sunny hugged them all with her wings.

"Thank you, friends!" she said. "You are the best!"

Then they all went to have tea with honey. And Sunny never worried about her spots again. She knew her friends loved her just the way she was.
