In a forest near Rainbow Meadow lived a unicorn named Rainbow. His horn sparkled with all the colors of the rainbow and could work wonders.
Rainbow loved to show off. He would go up to the animals and say, "Look! I can make spring in the middle of winter!" And he would touch the grass with his horn, and it would turn green and bloom. "Look! I can make a rainbow!" And a colorful arc would appear in the sky.
The animals were amazed, but they would walk away. Rainbow was left alone. He didn't understand why.
One day, a little bunny named Fluffy came running into the meadow. He was gray, ordinary, with no magic at all.
"Hi!" said Fluffy. "Want to play with me?"
Rainbow was surprised. "You see my magic horn? Want me to show you a trick?"
"No thanks," smiled Fluffy. "Let's play hide-and-seek!"
Rainbow had never played hide-and-seek. He was always busy with magic. But Fluffy was so cheerful that the unicorn agreed.
They ran between the trees, laughed, and jumped over puddles. Rainbow even forgot about his horn. He was having more fun than ever!
Then they lay on the grass and looked at the clouds.
"That cloud looks like a flying turtle!" pointed Fluffy.
"And that one looks like ice cream!" laughed Rainbow.
They played until evening. When it was time to say goodbye, Fluffy said, "I had so much fun with you! Will you come tomorrow?"
Rainbow nodded. His heart felt warm and happy.
The next day, Fluffy came again. Together they built a little house from twigs. Then they sang songs. Then they picked berries.
Rainbow noticed that other animals came up to them — Squirrel Red, Hedgehog Prickly, and Bear Brown. Everyone wanted to play together.
Now the meadow was filled with laughter and cheerful voices every day. Rainbow hardly used his magic. He ran, jumped, and made friends.
And in the evening, when everyone went home, Fluffy always said, "See you tomorrow, Rainbow! You're my best friend!"
The unicorn went to sleep happy. His horn glowed softly in the dark, but that didn't matter anymore. What mattered was the warmth in his heart.
Rainbow closed his eyes and smiled, thinking about the next day with his friends.
