High up in the sky lived a tiny little cloud. Her name was Puff.
Puff was white and fluffy, just like cotton candy. She loved to play with the breeze and look down at the earth.
During the day, Puff would float around, sing little songs, and dance. But when the sun began to hide, she saw: down below, children were going home. Birds were flying to their nests. Bunnies were hopping into their burrows.
"Everyone is getting ready for bed," thought Puff.
One evening, Puff saw a little girl by a window. The girl was looking up at the sky and yawning.
"Oh, that little girl is so tired!" whispered Puff. "I need to help her fall asleep."
She called her sister clouds: "Come here, quick!"
One little cloud flew over. Then another. And another. And many, many more clouds.
"Let's cover the sky with a blanket!" said Puff.
The clouds lined up, hugging each other. They spread out their fluffy sides and covered the whole blue sky.
It grew quiet. It grew soft. It grew cozy.
The little girl by the window smiled: "What a warm blanket in the sky!"
She closed her eyes and fell asleep.
Puff quietly floated over the town. She saw the lights going out in the windows. She saw children falling asleep in their beds.
"Sweet dreams," whispered the cloud.
And when everyone was fast asleep, Puff closed her eyes too. She lay down on her cloud bed and pulled up a corner of the blanket.
The clouds breathed softly. The breeze grew still. Little stars peeked through tiny holes in the cloud blanket.
And the whole sky, covered in a soft blanket, lulled the world to sleep:
"Good night, good night…"
Puff smiled in her sleep. She dreamed that tomorrow morning the sun would wake her, and she would float off to play again. And in the evening, she would once again cover the sky with her warm blanket.
Because it's so cozy when everyone sleeps under a soft, fuzzy cloud blanket.
